Handmade ceramics

Each item in the LAKRISTA | pottery shop is made by hand by LaKrista Morton at wasps Inverness Creative Academy, Midmills Building, Stephen’s Street, Inverness IV2 3JP. Most pots are thrown and turned on the pottery wheel, some are handbuilt using coils of clay. Surfaces are often finished with locally-sourced materials including wild clay and different species and sources of wood ash. No two items are identical. Each item is unique. Items of the same type will vary in their form and surface finish.

Shipping

I aim to process and dispatch orders once a week. All parcels are posted with Royal Mail or Parcelforce.

Orders in the UK

All parcels within the UK are posted with the Royal Mail 2nd Class Signed For or Tracked 48 Signed For service. The cost of postage depends on the dimensions and total weight of the parcel. Postage for each order is calculated at checkout. Any overages paid on shipping will be refunded to you after the item has shipped. First class postage may be used during busy postage seasons for example during the winter holiday period.

Orders outside of the UK

All international parcels are posted with a tracked and signed for service from Royal Mail or Parcelforce. The amount charged for postage varies by destination and by total weight of the parcel. The total cost of international postage is calculated at checkout. Any overages paid on shipping will be refunded to you after the item has shipped. As the UK has now left the EU, orders shipped to EU countries are now also subject to customs, VAT, and/or handling fees. The customer is responsible for any customs fees and charges.

If it looks like shipping is not available for your country, please get in touch and I may be able to provide you with a quote.

Please note that the tracked and signed for service cannot be used to send parcels to a PO Box and I will therefore use an alternative service.

Refunds

Returning an item

I want customers to be happy with their purchase – if you’re not, please contact me within 5 days of receiving your order. Returns will not be considered after this date. However, please consider your purchase carefully to avoid the need to return it. If you have any questions about an item before placing an order, please get in touch by email: info@lakrista.com.

Before returning an item, please email me first so that I know to expect it. Return postage is your responsibility and the original cost of postage will not be reimbursed. Please keep proof of postage and please package the item(s) securely. I will process any refund for the item(s) within 30 days of receiving the returned item(s).

Damaged item

If you receive an item that has been damaged in transit on its way to you, please let me know by email within 2 days of receiving it (info@lakrista.com). We can discuss a replacement item and the timescales for this (as I may not have replacement stock available) or a refund. In the case of a refund you will also be reimbursed the original cost of postage. I will process any refund within 30 days of receiving notification that you would like to be reimbursed for the item.

Stoneware pottery is fragile and care is required when using, washing, stacking etc. to avoid nicks and chips. However, even with regular careful use, a pot may pick up marks of use over time. These marks of use add to the history and character of a piece and I do not issue refunds or process returns for damage that occurs in any way other than being damaged in transit to you from the studio.

Recyclable / compostable packaging

All packaging is recyclable and/or compostable, and certainly reusable!

Most boxes that I use are eco-boxes which use less material than a standard double-walled box but are just as strong. Each pot is wrapped in a paper-based bubble-wrap alternative and nestled on top of a layer of eco packing peanuts. These peanuts are made of starch and can be composted or dissolved in the sink with water. Alternatively they may be placed on a layer of scrunched up paper. Each piece is then surrounded in scrunched up paper re-used from parcels I receive before a final layer of eco packing peanuts or scrunched paper is added on top. The tape I use is made from paper and is fully recyclable too.
